Everyone laughed at a mascot whose costume only cost $100.  Everyone joked that the name Totes McGoats wouldn't make a difference with the recycling habits for the people of Niagara Falls.  Everyone was wrong.

The marketing campaign based around Totes McGoats the goat has helped immensely.

According to WGRZ, recycling is up.  Way up as a matter of fact.  Niagara Falls has increased its recycling rate by 50 percent and cut the amount of trash it dumps in landfills by almost 20 percent.
