It was an incredible record-breaking night for Martin Truex, Jr. at Sunday's Coca-Cola 600.  He led all but eight of the race's 400 laps.  He had the lead for 588 of 600 miles – the most ever in a single race in NASCAR history. And so after disappointments at Texas, Kansas and Dover earlier this year, Truex finally has his first win of the season and the fourth of his career.

The 588 laps led by Truex is a record that may never be broken.  The previous race and track record was 335 set in the 1967 Coca-Cola 600.

Other records set on Sunday included average speed; 160.644 mph.  And it was the fastest Coca-Cola 600 in history; 3 hours, 44 minutes, 8 seconds.

Truex not only won the race, he did it easily with a more than two and a half second lead on Kevin Harvick at the finish line.  Jimmie Johnson led the second-most laps in the race; five and finished third.  Harvick and Johnson both had fast cars, but they were no match for Truex.

Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski completed the Top 5.

Next up on the schedule is the first of two visits to Pocono Speedway on Sunday.
