In the world of hip-hop country, I believe there is room (and a demand) for music with a traditional sound. Furthermore, I think there is room for country music with a Western flair. True, the days of Gene Autry (and even George Strait) may now be a thing of historical reference in Nashville. However, there are still cowboys releasing some great music that blends perfectly in the remixed, ultra produced world of country music we have today.

Austin Wahlert has something special going for him. Yes, the trend is for flashy, glitzy style on today's country radio. However, this guy is real. What makes Austin Wahlert special is more than his ability to write and record songs. Wahlert lives them, daily.

I was fortunate to be introduced to his music via Twitter. What's more, I was fortunate to learn his background and story.

True, not everyone can relate to dreaming of being an all around champion rodeo star, or even a gold buckle winner at a local rodeo. And yes,the music that you get from Austin Wahlert's forthcoming album includes plenty of music fit for listening under big sky country or in a Texas honky-tonk or in the truck on the way to the rodeo arena. However, what sold me on Austin Wahlert's music/style is the TRUTH behind the songs and REALISM he includes in his performances.

To say Austin Wahlert is a cowboy is accurate. To say he is genuine and passionate is an understatement.
