There are so many preservatives in them that everyone thought they would never go away.  Unfortunately, they did go away for awhile when Hostess went belly up last fall.  People went out and paid enormous amounts of money for a single box.  Now, they're coming back!

According to CNN Money, we can expect the tasty cake treat called Twinkies back on shelves this summer.  Hostess has been purchased by two private equity companies called Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Co and they're excited to keep the Twinkies flowing.

We are very pleased to have the opportunity to bring back ‘America’s favorite snack.’ Apollo and I are proud to be associated with such an outstanding set of brands. This transaction will ensure the beloved Hostess snack cakes can continue to be enjoyed for years to come. We look forward to returning the iconic Hostess products, including Twinkies, Ding Dongs, and HoHos, to consumers as soon as possible.”

So if you spent a ton of money hoarding the famous snacks then without a doubt you made a bad investment.  To keep things positive though, at least you can still eat about $30,000 worth of twinkies and cupcakes.
