It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Batavia Downs Gaming with help from our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week.  This week, we honor two brothers that both served in Vietnam from Depew!

Sp4 Tim Betz, was a recon scout for D Troop, 1/9 Cavalry Reg. 1st Cav. Div. 70-71 earning a Bronze Star with Valor, 4 Air Medals and an Army Commendation Medal. He passed about ten years ago due to complications from cancer and exposed to agent orange.  You can see the devastation in his picture.  If you notice, it shows all the brown and dead vegetation.

Sgt. Jack Betz, 39th Signal battalion, 1st Signal Brigade, who supported fire bases and their installations working on generators and cooling systems during two tours in Vietnam and served in the army from 66-69.

This week, we want to say thank you to these brothers who both fought in Vietnam and give them at least a little bit of the pride they should have felt when they came home.  We are proud to name them our Hometown Heroes of the week!

If you would like to nominate your own Hometown Hero, click the button below. We like to honor both active duty and veteran heroes from right here in Western New York.

Thanks once again to Specialist Fourth class Tim Betz and Sergeant Jack Betz from the United States Army, our Hometown Heroes of the week!
