My son Tyler was out deer hunting on Saturday in Virginia where it was opening day of muzzleloader season. His friend owns a 290 acre farm in Chesterfield County, Virginia. Using a borrowed muzzleloader, he was able to harvest a button buck and a mature doe. The deer are a bit smaller the further South you go, but they had a big venison feast for dinner yesterday and Tyler said the meat tasted fantastic. He will be back home this week to continue his quest for a nice buck. The Western New York archery season continues from now until the 18th.
