UPDATE: The USS Little Rock is schedule to arrive in Buffalo Monday morning around 9:30am.

The commissioning of the new USS Little Rock will take place December 16th at Canalside. However, it was announced that the ship will arriving about a week ahead of schedule on Monday, December 4th. This will give the public more time to see the ship from the outside however the limited tours of the inside of the ship will not be extended.

According to ship's website, it's the first time in the "Navy’s 241-year history that a ship will be commissioned alongside its namesake ship." You can see video and pictures of the new ship on the USS Little Rock's website.

The USS Little Rock is one of the newest warship from the Navy. Built in Marinette, Wisconsin and the USS Little Rock is a Littoral Combat Ship that has a helicopter pad, ramp for small boats and is designed to stay close to the shore.
