The Erie County Sheriff's Office is warning Western New Yorkers of some incidents on ATM's in the area.

Recently there were some skimming devices found on ATM's in the Clarence area and officials say there is a good chance that there could be similar incidents across WNY. If you come across something fishy, call the Sheriff's at 858-2903.

According to the Sheriff's Office via WGRZ, here are some tips to be aware of:

  • Customers should check all card readers for suspicious items like extra wires, residue or damage to or around the swipe reader
  • Customers should block the keypad from legitimate and illegitimate surveillance cameras' field of view
  • Individuals should check their bank accounts for suspicious charges and withdrawals as well as unauthorized purchases
