It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Batavia Downs Gaming with help from our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week.  This week, our Hometown Hero is from West Seneca, NY.  It’s United States Marine Corps Sergeant Nicholas Jones!

Nicholas’ nomination reads:

I could write a book on what Nicholas has accomplished in the last 10 years of his life. He was raised by a strong, independent single mother.  Nick graduated in 2007 from West Seneca West High School, joined the USMC and made the rank of Sergeant in less than 2 yrs.  He went on 3 deployments. When he came back he attended Erie Community College and became captain of the football team.  He has received the chancellor and president awards for student leadership and excellence. He received a scholarship for UTep El Paso and completed his degree at Buffalo State all along playing football , something he never did in high school.

He now coaches West Seneca West football and the girls’ basketball team.

He has been a leader, mentor to all ages and very humble . He walks in a room and people seem to know who he is telling him he has made an impressive mark in his community.

As you can tell I am his mom who is overwhelmed with his success and overcoming it all. There is so much more to the impact he has made and continues to do. He was recently recognized on veterans day for his service in West Seneca.
Currently, he works at the Stanley Folk school in Kenmore.

This week, we are honored to name Nicholas Jones our Hometown Hero of the week!
