Think about it. Do you know anybody who doesn’t like pizza. According to the Learning Channel, 93 percent of Americans eat pizza at least once a month.

Pizza is a $30-billion industry in the United States. Three billion pizzas are sold in this country every year, plus a billion more frozen pizzas.

17 percent of all American restaurants are pizzerias.

It should be no surprise that 36 percent of all pizzas are topped with pepperoni, making it the most popular pizza topping. Sausage is number two on the list, mushrooms come in third, onions are fourth.

Twice as many woman as men order vegetarian toppings on their pizza.

More pizza is eaten during Super Bowl week than any other week of the year.

On average, Americans eat an average of 23 pounds of pizza a year.

The pizzeria was opened in Naples, Italy in 1738. The first pizzeria in the United States was opened in New York City in 1895.

The Guiness Book of Records says the world’s largest pizza was made in 2005 in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Pizza shop owner Bill Bahr and 200 helpers used 4,000 pounds of cheese and 700 pounds of sauce to build a pizza….imagine on a football field….42 yards long and 33 yards wide. It was enough to cut into 52,000 slices.
