I am a parent. I love my kids and I want them to be incredibly successful. So I want to teach my kids how to win every day. Unfortunately, the reality of it all is that we don't win EVERY day. Sometimes we come up on the losing side of life and we have to learn how to deal with it. Along the way, we have to learn how to deal with losing. While extracurricular activities all have their place in school, this is where I think sports becomes a valuable commodity. Learning to deal with winning and losing is a bigger skill than people think. It's a lesson that this kid probably needed to learn a couple seasons ago. Maybe he should think about trying out for the wrestling team next year instead.
