For some reason I drive a whole bunch of miles every month. I am up and down the 400, 90 and 190 everyday and seem to be on the 219, 290, 33 at rt 5 a good amount of time every month as well. It's the time of year when you can see the crazy amounts of litter on the side of the roads and most specifically the shoulder of the roads at off ramps. One of my biggest pest peeves is littering. It takes just as much effort to throw your trash in a receptacle as it does to throw it out your window of your vehicle. Just like forest fires, only YOU can prevent the trash build up along our roadsides. Anything from diapers to cans and bottles, tires, lumber, bed mattresses and even appliances are scattered along the many beautiful roadways we have.OK, Some of what is out there was accidentally strewn from a pick up bed. I have seen it when people will throw their junk into my bed of my truck and I don't notice it until I am doing 65 and it decides to fly out. But there is no excuse for trash to be purposely thrown out of a car or truck.

Thank goodness for the many organizations that have chosen to "Adopt A Highway." We should start to see them this time of the year, out with the orange garbage bags working to gather other people's garbage. Drive along 219 when this is going on and you will see many, many bags full!

I keep a bag in my truck for garbage and many of the gas stations have cans next to their pumps so you can put trash in them while you fill up! Or at Tim Hortons, Burger King and other drive through food places there are cans for garbage to! I never understood how people can be so inconsiderate, lazy and careless about their junk. These are pictures I took along Rt 400..it is just a very small sample of what you will see...
