It was a charity event and the concept was pretty simple.  The Tampa, Fla. Women's Club offered a chance to win a one-carat $5000 diamond for just a $20 donation.  The real diamond was placed at the bottom of one of 400 champagne flutes.  The other glasses were filled with cubic zirconia stones valued at $10.

80-year-old Miriam Tucker decided she didn't want to put her fingers in the glass so she took a few sips and while laughing with the other women at the table she realized she swallowed what turned out to be the real diamond.

Oddly she was already scheduled for a colonoscopy, and the doctor was able to find it.  Probably a lot easier than digging through the toilet.
