The three-year disappearance case of Holly Bobo, cousin of country singer Whitney Duncan, is finally coming to a close, but unfortunately, it’s not a happy ending.

A 29-year-old Tennessee man has been charged with first degree murder and the girl’s kidnapping. The young college student was leaving her Decatur County, Tenn. home for school on the morning of April 13, 2011 when — according to her brother — she was taken into the woods behind their house by a man dressed in camouflage.

Recently, a search warrant was executed on a local residence, which presumably led to the arrest of Holladay, Tenn. man Zach Adams.

After hearing the news of her cousin’s murder on Wednesday (March 5), Duncan took to her Twitter page with a short message:

District Attorney General Hansel McCadams has confirmed the belief that Bobo was kidnapped and killed. “We believe we can prove that she was taken forcefully from her home without her consent,” he said. “Based on the evidence that we have before us, we also feel that she was killed in the perpetration of that kidnapping.”

Many of Bobo’s family and friends held out hope for her safe return until the very end, Duncan not excluded. On Sunday (March 2), she posted a photo of her, Holly Bobo and their family, continuing her plea fans to pray for her cousin’s return.
