People who love winter, the cold, the snow and everything that goes along with it, take heart.  The cold will return this weekend and when we say cold we're talking single digits on Saturday and sub zero on Saturday night into Sunday.

Hard hit by the mild winter are the people who invest a lot of money in winter sports like skiing, skating and especially snowmobiling.  Snowmobilers did get a chance to use the public trails around Western New York for a short time this season, but most of the trails have been closed for weeks.

The Tri-County Trailriders Trail in Niagara County has been closed for quite a while.  Over the years I've seen many snowmobilers cross the trail at Bear Ridge Road in Pendleton.  But as you can see from the photo that trail is closed, but along with the cold temperatures there is snow in the forecast, especially in the Southern tier counties.

So hang in there winter lovers.  Despite what the groundhog said last week there really is six weeks left before spring.
