There's a Western New York connection to the Jeep commercial that played during the 3rd quarter of Sunday night's Super Bowl game.  It debuted the 2015 Jeep Renegade to the Woody Guthrie song "This Land Is Your Land" starting with shots of California and New York, but then expanded to include shots of scenes from around the world.

Jeep is a division of Chrysler and has run some pretty impressive commercials the past few years featuring the voices of Bob Dylan, Eminem, Clint Eastwood and Paul Harvey. This year they decided to go with someone unknown.

The singer who did the vocals for the commercial this year is a Western New York native.  28-year old Marc Scibilia grew up on Grand Island and has lived in Nashville for the past five years, mainly as a songwriter.  When he heard the company was looking for an updated version of the song, he submitted one.  He and two other artists were invited into a recording studio and it wasn't until just last week that he found out his was the one selected.

As in past years, the identity of who would do this year's vocal was kept secret until the spot aired.
