We celebrated Flag Day on Wednesday by making several stops around the area to give away free American flags courtesy of Ace Flag.  From Amherst to Clarence to Cheektowaga and even a visit to an elementary school parade we put flags into the hands of hundreds of people.

Among the highlights were a visit to the Patriots and Heroes Park in front of Russell's Steak House on Transit Road.  It includes a memorial in honor of the soldiers involved in the World War II Battle of the Bulge, a 9-11 Memorial and a tribute to Gold Star Families.  It was there that our vehicle refused to start when we were ready to leave - dead battery.  But people quickly came to the rescue.  Luckily were right next to Enterprise Rent A Car and they were so kind as to give us a jump and we were on our way.

But while we were making our rounds we got an invitation to attend the annual Cleveland Hill Elementary School Flag Day Parade.  The kids were adorable, many of them who had made hats and costumes in honor of Flag Day and they were proud to display what they had made.  We were just as excited to see them as they were to see us.

So this is what an elementary school parade on Flag Day looks like:
