This is so cool and interesting, but it also proves that time has not done Buffalo well since the beginning of the 1900s.

There were few better cities in America than Buffalo in 1902. The city installed America's first electric street lights, one of the world's first skyscrapers (Guaranty Building, 1894) and the world's largest office building (Ellicott Square, 1896). Fresh off of hosting the 1901 Pan-American Exhibition, the City of Light was cutting edge.

It's amazing what Buffalo was able to accomplish back then, and it's even more incredible how quick the landscape has changed here in town. Here are some overhead pics of some of the most recognizable spots in Buffalo, and it's interesting to see what the layout used to look back then.
