Your WNY Town May Not Be As Safe As You Think, Here’s Why
How safe are you in your town? It wasn't that long ago when many people felt safe leaving their doors unlocked on their house or even leaving keys in their vehicles! However, things have changed and the area you live in may not be as safe as before.
NewYorkUpstate.com did a study about the most dangerous towns and cities in Upstate NY. Based on numbers and statistics from the FBI and population statistics, Niagara Falls leads the way. According to the report:
#1 Niagara Falls (Niagara County)
Crime score: 1916
Violent crimes: 565
Property crimes: 2402
Previous year: #1
Buffalo came in at #3 and it was Rochester at #5. Batavia, Lockport, Jamestown and even Albion made the list of the most dangerous.
It makes me start to sound like an old guy. But it's true that we never even had much more than a screen door on the front of the house that most days wasn't locked. We walked to school! We felt good riding our bikes and leaving them unlocked at school. I'm not sure that I would feel comfortable doing those things anymore.
