It's the first time since 2003 that there have been zero U.S. casualties reported on Iraqi soil for an entire month according to an independent group that keeps tally of all the deaths in Iraq and Afganistan.

The count done by icasualties.org was backed up by an Associated Press tally and by the U.S. Defence Department.

That's great news coming from Iraq.

The bad news is that it was also the deadliest month for U.S. casualties in Afganistan as we saw 67 troops killed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the people who make it their job to keep us safe every day.
