Among the major pro sports it's the only All-Star game I'll watch because it's so much fun.  The NHL's decision a few years ago to go with a 3 on 3 format for the entire All-Star game was the best decision they've ever made.  They've made it a must-see event with the stars allowed to show their talents and boy did they ever this year.

The All-Star final came down to a battle between the Atlantic division and the Pacific division and for the second year in a row the Pacific division prevailed 5-2 to split the $1-million prize.  Anaheim forward Rickard Rakell scored twice to lead the way.

Jack Eichel playing in his first All-Star game represented himself well.  He scored a goal and set up two others in the preliminary game as the Atlantic division stars beat the Metropolitan division stars 7-4.  Eichel also came in third in the Fastest Skater event at the Skills competition on Saturday

Country music was well-represented at the All-Star game with Chase Rice providing the music for the player introductions, Brett Young with the national anthem and Kid Rock with an intermission concert.

The Sabres and the rest of the NHL resume play on Tuesday.  The Sabres play the first of a five-game homestand when they host the New Jersey Devils.
