If you like to run, there seems to be a new 5k popping up every weekend.  It's a great way to start your day and be more active in life.  Not to mention, it's a lot of fun!  This weekend I was able to take part in the Color Me Rad Race at Darien Lake and it was a blast!

There's nothing like the rush of a race.  You get to the starting line and you can just feel the energy.  As the start time grows closer you hear people starting to yell and count down.  Then...you're off.

I'm by no means in good shape these days but I still love to run.  This run was perfect for me.  It wasn't stressful or competitive, it was all about the fun.  We started in the parking lots behind the ampitheater where you would park for the concerts.  Then we continued around the park past the admission gates, around the superman 'Ride of Steel' and then over by the campground.

The weather wasn't great and we did see some rain.  But the cooler temps actually made for a comfortable run.

The cool part is that every half mile or so you would run into a new color station.  At these stations they were either throwing colored powder at you or squirting you with gels.  At the end of the race, you are tie dyed in pinks, purples, greens, and blues.  I took all kinds of video and had it on Snapchat.  The only problem is that I didn't download it to my phone so as Snapchat does, after 24 hours, it was gone.

We had a lot of fun.  So much so that next year I think my son might run it with us.  And of course there's a charity tied to it.  They team up to help provide meals for hungry children around the world with feedONE.
