Sometimes one team just has another team's number.  Try as they might the Buffalo Sabres just don't seem to have a whole lot of luck when they play the Pittsburgh Penguins.  But it's a different story when they play the San Jose Sharks.  Friday night the Sabres beat the Sharks in San Jose for the fifth straight time.  In the last 10 games against the Sharks overall the Sabres are 9-0-1.

The Sharks scored early in the first period on their first shot on goal, but Sabres goaltender Chad Johnson stopped every shot after that.  Meanwhile, the Sabres battled back to tie the game on Johan Larsson's third goal of the season in the second period.  In the third period a long shot by Zach Bogosian deflected off a San Jose skate into the net to give Buffalo the lead and Bogosian assisted on Evander Kane's clinching goal into an empty net.

After giving up that early goal, Johnson stopped 24 shots to pick up his 14th victory of the season.  In a rarity, neither team had a power play and neither team was assessed a penalty.

The Sabres complete their western road trip Saturday night in Los Angeles against the Kings.
