The Erie County Sheriff's office has issued a warning about a new phone scam where the scammers are posing as Deputies.

Detectives with the Sheriff's office have received complaints about phone scammers who have been calling area residents posing as Deputies asking for personal information.

The Sheriff's office wants to remind you that they do not call residents requesting personal information.

If you have received one of these calls, you can let the Sheriff's office know by calling them at 716-687-8427.

The Sheriff's office also recommends that you ignore the calls and voicemails and if possible just hang up on the scammer.
