Is What Val Did Stealing?

It's a case of finders keepers--or is it theft?

There was a lost and found bin with Ray Bans in them for over a year and finally she decided to take them home so they didn't go to waste. She gave them to her son who sat on the glasses and now they're broke. Now, she called the company and said that they were broke and needs a new pair. They didn't ask why.

But, we are having a debate about whether or not this is stealing?
