One of the sure tell-tale signs that spring has sprung in Buffalo and Western New York is when we see thousands of people descend into the Elmwood Village to stand and sit on the lawn of different houses to watch live music and spoken word being performed from the porches of different people's houses.

One of the favorite homegrown music events was back again this year and even some serious rain earlier in the day did not stop Buffalo Porchfest 2023 being a good time. This years edition did not disappoint one bit.

What Is Porchfest?

What started in Ithaca, New York in 2007, has taken the country by storm and in typically Buffalo fashion, we have made it one of the biggest events of the year.

According to Front Porch Ideas, Porchfests are special music festivals that are held from the front porches in neighborhoods that encourage to stroll the area, meet their neighbors, make new friends, and frequent businesses in the neighborhoods that they are visiting. People are also able to get up close and personal to some of the bands in the local area that are bubbling in the area.

In Buffalo, Porchfest takes place in the Elmwood Village Neighborhood and typically takes over the entire area. According to the Elmwood Village Association, Porchfest started in Buffalo in 2013, and this years event featured more than 150 different bands and artists who performed on 76 different 'porches' all around the Elmwood Village, along with porches in the Upper Westside, Bryant, and Allentown Neighborhoods.

Buffalo Porchfest 2023

Thousands of Buffalonians descended upon the Elmwood Village neighborhood in Buffalo to participate in the most popular activities in Western New York. The homegrown music festival known as Porchfest allows local Bands and Musicians to perform right from the porches in the neighborhood for the afternoon while people are able to stroll house to house to be entertained. This year's Porchfest occurred at various locations on Saturday, May 20, 2023.

Community Gathering for Reflection, Healing, and Hope in Buffalo

Several hundred people descended upon filled More than 16,000 people piled into the Johnnie B Wiley Amateur Athletic Sports Pavilion on Jefferson Ave to focus on reflection, healing, and hope in response to the aftermath of that terrible act of domestic terrorism. The Community Gathering for Reflection, Healing, and Hope occured on Saturday, May 13, 2023. It featured entertainment and activities to help honor the lives that were lost and impacted during the mass shooting in Buffalo 1 year ago.
