Even though the Buffalo Bills didn't play this weekend, they were the biggest winner on Sunday.

This past Thursday, the Bills won their first game against an AFC East opponent when they beat the New England Patriots on the road.

That win put the Bills in 2nd place in the AFC East and into the 5 seed in the AFC playoff race. Heading into Sunday's games the Miami Dolphins held the lead in the AFC East and the Kansas City Chiefs were the top seed in the AFC.

All that changed on Sunday. With the win on Thursday, the Bills improved to 9-3 on the season. The Miami Dolphins lost to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday 33-17 to fall to 8-4 on the season and are now in 2nd place in the AFC East behind Buffalo.

The Bills host Miami the weekend of December 18th and it looks like that game will be played on Sunday night as the NFL is looking to flex that game to Primetime.

As for the top spot in the AFC, The Bills were in 5th place. But with the loss by Miami and a loss by the Chiefs to the Bengals 27-24 on Sunday, the Bills reclaimed the #1 seed for the AFC playoffs and home-field advantage and an opening week bye.

The loss by the Chiefs dropped them to 9-3, which is the same record as the Bills, but the Bills beat the Chiefs earlier this season which means the Bills hold the tie-breaker and are in the top spot for the AFC playoffs.

The Bills now control their own destiny. If they win their final regular season games they will have home-field advantage for the playoffs this season.

Up next for the Bills is a home game against the Jets on Sunday at 1 pm.
