Back in the 1950s, the Drive-In Movie theatre was all the rage. People would plan their weekends around getting their family and/or friends together to go and watch a movie on the big screen while relaxing in their vehicle.

During their peak, there were around 4,000 drive-in movie theaters around the county. now there are less than 300. The good news is that we have a couple here in Western New York, and they are opening soon.
According to their Twitter page, the Transit Drive-in located in Lockport will be opening up for the season on April 7th.
The Transit Drive-in has been around since 1952 and recently was sold to the owners of Dipson Theaters. The Transit Drive-in isn't the only drive-in still operating here in Western New York.
The Loomis's Delevan Drive-In which opened in 1959 will be back again in 2023. As of this writing, they haven't announced when their opening day will be.
