New York’s Best Beer Is From Western New York

Over the weekend, the 2023 New York State Craft Beer Competition was held and one lucky brew from Western New York was named the best in the state.
At the end of the competition, Rochester's Genesee Brewery's Brew House Helles won the Governor’s Excelsior Cup. It is an award that is given to the best beer in the show. It is an award that goes to the top overall beer no matter what category.

The Brew House Helles beer is a medium-bodied, German Helles-inspired lager with subtle malty characteristics and impeccably balance
It has been a couple of years since Genesse has taken home a medal from a Beer Competition. Back in 2018, Genesee won a gold medal in the chocolate beer category at the World Beer Cup for its dark chocolate Scotch ale. Genesee also won a silver medal with it at the Great American Beer Festival.
