Joanna Gaines Hid Something of Hers in Son Drake’s College Apartment
Reality television star Joanna Gaines couldn't help but leave something of hers at her oldest son Drake's apartment.
While moving him into his new home and decorating the space, she made sure to include one of her own cookbooks in the kitchen.
Gaines claims it was to add a "pop of color."
Joanna Gaines Moves Her Oldest Son Into His College Apartment
Although the Gaines matriarch doesn't share too many photos of her children on social media, she took a moment to include the big move in her Instagram Stories.
"College apartment move in day," Joanna writes in her Instagram Stories, along with a photo of a value size bottle of ranch dressing in her son's refrigerator, which is empty otherwise.
It's about the essentials, after all.
In addition, her followers were treated to a glimpse of Drake's new apartment.
If you're wondering if the space looks like one of the staged homes from the show, it does. The living room appears both cozy and manly with an industrial farmhouse feel.
Joanna decorated with several books, candles, knickknacks and possibly (accidentally) a drinking game. While she calls the ring toss game "good ol' fashion fun," Drake says it could be used for something else entirely.
The final video the media mogul included was a special piece of artwork displaying an inspirational message from Major League Baseball legend Babe Ruth.
"Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game," the wooden sign reads.
Drake is gearing up for his sophomore year at Baylor University — the same school his parents attended.
Who Are Chip and Joanna Gaines' Children?
Chip and Joanna Gaines are parents to five children — Drake, 19; Ella, 17; Duke, 16; Emmie, 14, and Crew, 6. Having their oldest child in college has given the pair a new outlook on life.
"I think the greatest gift of having a kid go off to college and having a 5-year-old toddler, is kind of that perspective of it's not here forever," Joanna told People in 2023. "Don't take it for granted, and cherish these moments. And that's what this 5-year-old is teaching me."
"Something about Drakey going off to college really does make you shift your attention to Crew who's on the tail end of all this," Chip shares. "And you're kind of living very intentionally because you know that — which is so hard to believe when you're holding a 1-year-old — 'Oh, this time's going to go by quickly.’"
"Because it seems like time was standing still, at the time, but then when you see your boy go off to college for real — well then, you certainly shift your attention to little Crew and want to really practically live as if he were going to go off to college tomorrow, so we can enjoy and appreciate every moment," he adds.
