I recall having car rides with my family during those long summer days and 2003 was right in that wheelhouse. One of the songs I remember hearing a lot was "99.9% Sure (I've Never Been Here Before)" by Brian McComas.

Brian was actually another artist that has been to our WYRK Taste of Country show; and not just once, but TWICE! First time was in 2003 (with Diamond Rio, Chris Cagle and Gary Allan) and again in 2005 (with Jo Dee Messina, Phil Vassar and Neal McCoy).

"99.9% Sure (I've Never Been Here Before)" was released in February of 2003. It reached #8 on the Mediabase country chart in August. It peaked at #10 on the Billboard country airplay chart. Written by Billy Austin and Greg Barnhill, the song was off Brian's self-titled, debut album.

Believe it or not, "99.9% Sure" was McComas' third career single. The first two off the album failed to make the top 40. Brian would reach #21 on Billboard with "You're In My Head" in 2004 and reach the top 40 on Mediabase with "The Middle of Nowhere" (#39) in 2005.

He would chart just once more in 2006 with "Good, Good Lovin'" (#53) off an independent label. Brian hasn't charted a song since.

I remember Brett Alan telling stories of Brian McComas performing at the old J.T. Wheatfield's back when "99.9% Sure" was a hit. I loved Brian's music and I wish he had more success than just one top 10 single.

"99.9% Sure (I've Never Been Here Before)" is a jam if I ever heard one!
