One-Hit Wonder Dust Off: “Forgive” by Rebecca Lynn Howard
There have been so many great voices in country music over the years. One of them belonged to Rebecca Lynn Howard.
Even though Rebecca Lynn's only hit was in 2002, she started by releasing three singles off her self-titled debut album from 1999-2000. None of them were able to reach the top 40.
Two years later, she released "Forgive." It hit country radio in May of 2002 and peaked at #10 on the Mediabase chart in November of that year. It reached #12 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.
Written by Howard and Trey Bruce, the song would be the only single off her album of the same name that year.
Rebecca Lynn charted three more times from 2003-2005 ("What a Shame", "I Need a Vacation", "No One'll Ever Love Me"). None of the singles failed to reach the top 30 on the charts. Rebecca Lynn would then leave her label Arista Nashville at the time.
Rebecca Lynn Howard is one of my favorite underrated country artists of the 2000s. Such an outstanding voice and "Forgive" was a great song with some honest lyrics. I also adored her singles, "I Need a Vacation" and "That's Why I Hate Pontiacs."
