According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, a ride share driver was tased and arrested after leading police on a chase in Niagara County. According to the department's Facebook page, the incident happened today, Monday, September 19, 2022. Deputy Ross attempted to conduct a traffic stop around the 6700 block of Ward Road in Niagara Falls. The driver of the vehicle was representing a ride share company and had a passenger in his vehicle.

The passenger stepped out of the vehicle to speak to Deputy Ross about the driver, who was later identified as Jamie M. Wild of Buffalo. The driver was asked to exit his vehicle but fled the scene instead. The deputy suspected the driver of operating the vehicle While Ability Impaired by Drugs.

After leading deputies on a short chase, the driver crashed the vehicle and tried to run on foot near Buffalo Street at Saunders Settlement Road. In an effort to stop the driver from fleeing, Deputy Ross deployed his Taser. Wild was then taken into custody. During a search of the suspect, police allegedly found an unregistered 9mm in his possession.

Wild was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration, and several other traffic infractions. Other charges, presumably regarding the weapon, are pending. He was given an appearance ticket and will return to the Town of Wheatfield Court. He was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and then transported to Erie County Medical Center for the treatment of his injuries.
