Buffalo has been without a permanent bishop in the diocese since the controversial departure of Bishop Malone about a year ago. Today the diocese has been appointed a new bishop.

A Buffalo-area priest will be inducted into the Wall of Honor at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park on November 10th, nearly 75 years after he enlisted in the United States Army during World War II. 96-year old Msgr. Dino J. Lorenzetti served as a Staff Sergeant in Northern Africa and Italy from November, 1942 until he was honorably discharged in December, 1945.
The Buffalo Catholic Diocese will celebrate its third annual Blue Mass at 10:30 am this Sunday, October 8th at St. Joseph's Cathedral, 50 Franklin Street, downtown. The Mass will honor all local police officers, firefighters and EMS workers of all faiths along with their families and friends.
With its student population having fallen over the past five years from 164 to 103, teachers and parents on Wednesday were told that Mary Queen of Angels School in Cheektowaga will be closing at the end of the school year. With only half of the school's current students registered to return next year the school's Board of Trustees made the difficult decision to close.
