It’s time once again for the Hometown Hero brought to you by Batavia Downs Gaming.  This week we honor Tyler Seamans from the United States Navy.

He’s currently deployed but he is making his hometown of Mount Morris proud.  Today’s Hometown Hero is representing the Navy.  It’s Shane Chesnes.

This Saturday is Armed Forces Day, and to commemorate this special day, the Buffalo Bisons have teamed up with the Buffalo and Erie Naval and Military Park for a tribute to the brave men and women who protect our freedom.

This week’s Hometown Hero is a Navy Seabee who’s headed back over to Afghanistan for his second tour. Originally from Grand Island, our Hometown Hero is 28-year-old Chris Weatherston!

This week’s Hometown Hero is a veteran who served two decades in the United States Navy! He’s originally from Buffalo. It’s 47-year-old Robert Christopher Sikorski!

This week's Hometown Hero comes to us originally from Angola. Congratulations to 23-year-old Jared Wygant. He is a Seabee from the U.S. Navy, and he has been chosen as this week's Hometown Hero.

Meet Danny Webber.  Danny served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee.  He is now 74 years old and is one of the biggest Indianapolis Colts fans ever.  Unfortunately Danny is also dying from a terminal form of cancer.  This video is of him at his first NFL game.

Last Friday, I had a chance to take a walk around NAVY Week in Downtown Buffalo along the waterfront. Besides the fact that it was gorgeous day, I am so glad I decided to wander that way and take a tour of the ships and meet some of the dedicated NAVY crews.

We were talking yesterday about whistling and types of whistles.  First let's talk about some of the different types of whistles.

It’s a retired navy ship that’s part of the Buffalo Naval and Servicemen’s Museum downtown.  It’s the USS The Sullivans – the only navy destroyer named in honor of more than one person.  It was named in honor of five brothers from Waterloo, Iowa who served together on the USS JUNEAU during World War II.
