Cancer touches way too many people. Chances are, you know someone who has been affected in your own family.

Today (February 4) is World Cancer Day, and right here in Buffalo, Roswell Park is helping to lead the fight against cancer. We spoke with Dr. Choi on the show on Tuesday to dispel some of the common myths about the disease.

This is a very special month at Roswell Park. True, 12 months of the year, the fight against cancer is being fought at every level inside their walls. However, January has been set aside to increase the supplies of much-needed blood and platelets.

Need a gift idea that doubles as a donation to a great cause? This year, Aflac and Macy's have teamed up to support Roswell Park Cancer Institute's pediatric patients. When you purchase a fluffy Aflac Holiday Duck at the Macy's store at McKinley Mall, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Roswell.

The fight against cancer is one that requires a great deal of hard work for the patient, their family and the doctors and staff that assist them. This month, we spotlight the battle WON by Dan Covino, whose daughter wrote in with his amazing story of beating cancer.

11/21 UPDATE: Patty Kuzara needs our prayers now more than ever, as her fight against cancer has gotten more challenging. I received word that she had been readmitted to Roswell, and I have been told that she has been given a month to live.
