traffic signals

My brother in law was telling me he got a traffic ticket in the mail the other day for going through a red light. There he was – a picture of him driving his car – showing the car and a close up of the license plate and a bill for $300. It’s becoming a huge moneymaker in some cities. It brings in money and at the same time cuts down of traffic violations.

Can you imagine what it would be like if we didn’t have any traffic laws or rules?  No speed limit signs.  No stop signs.  No traffic lights.  That’s pretty much what it was like in the early years after the car was invented.  You had cars, bicycles, horses, trolleys and pedestrians all competing for right of way.

From the “I’ll believe it when I see it” file – I saw an item on the WGRZ-TV 2 website that says progress is being made on synchronizing Buffalo’s traffic signals.  As I was reading I kept wondering when I’m going to get to the punchline.  Anybody that’s ever tried to get around the city down the major streets knows it’s not unusual to have to stop at every light.  I’ve always said traffic lights
