Yesterday we told you that the old 219 bridge that for many years was the main connection for travelers heading to Ellicottville from Springville was going to be imploded.  This morning it happened.  Watch footage of the implosion here.

When I was growing up, there was a big debate in Springville on whether or not the state should continue the 219 expansion project beyond the Village of Springville.  A few years ago, the project began and the highway was extended a few miles up the road over the Cattaraugus Creek Gorge.  Now, there is an old bridge that used to connect Springville to Cattaraugus that needs to be replaced. Who could go for a Bloody Mary or a Mimosa on a Sunday morning?  At this point, you cannot buy alcohol in New York State at bars or restaurants on a Sunday before noon.  But Governor Cuomo is trying to change that. He's pushing to make that time a little earlier, by allowing sales after 8 a.m. instead.

When I was in high school it was a tournament that we always looked forward to. Teams of four people would sign up to play with three on the court and one reliever.  It was the Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournament. It was a blast and it's set to return to Western New York this year.
