The Worst Highways In New York State
In the summer, many drivers will be tackling their next road trip adventure. However, when it comes to planning your route, you may want to avoid certain highways if possible.
Of course, there are some highways and major roads in New York that you can’t help but incorporate into your route when you are traveling to certain destinations.
And trust me, drivers have noticed which highways are worse than others.
In a recent Reddit thread, one person declared Niagara Scenic Parkway to be the worst highway in the entire state. Previously, the highway was known as Robert Moses Parkway, and the original idea for this road was to connect Niagara Falls to Lewiston, NY to serve waterfront industries. However, those waterfront industries are no longer evident.
As a result, this road has “inadvertently cut off city residents from the waterfront and diverted traffic away from the central business districts,” according to Congress For The New Urbanism.
While Niagara Scenic Parkway seems to be a strong contender as the Worst Highway In New York, there are a few other major roads that have been considered to be just as bad, if not worse.
Take a look at some of the worst highways in New York state:
- Niagara Scenic Parkway
- LaSalle Expressway
- Twin Cities Highway
- The Belt Parkway
- I-278 (The Staten Island Expressway)
- Kensington Freeway
- Lake Ontario State Parkway
There’s quite a few highways that come to mind when we think of the worst highways in the state, but what is missing? Add your response here!
