A wild finish on and off the track at Phoenix International Raceway and big change in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship.

First – the winner – Kevin Harvick had enough gas to win in a green, white, checkered finish after a series of crashes in the final laps. The win breaks a 44-race winless skid for Harvick.

Both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series are at the newly repaved and reconfigured Kansas Speedway this weekend. Nationwide goes tomorrow with Race Six in the Chase for the Sprint Cup on Sunday.

It’ll be a homecoming for Clint Bowyer. The Kansas native is coming off last Saturday’s win at Charlotte and it moved him up to fourth in the standings

Tough night for Brad Keselowski at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Chase for the Sprint Cup points leader led the most laps, but for the second night in a row his crew miscalculated, and he ran out of gas. So for what looked like a sure victory, Keselowski found himself a lap down and he ended up 11th.

A dominating day by Clint Bowyer at Sonoma – leading 71 of 112 laps to win his first race of the season and for the first time on a road course. On the final lap any one of four cars could have won and when the checkered flag flew it was a moment before anyone realized exactly who had won. But when the dust all settled a video review showed it was Jimmie Johnson who won the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega edging Clint Bowyer by 0.002 of a second – that’s less than a foot.
