A wild finish on and off the track at Phoenix International Raceway and big change in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship.

First – the winner – Kevin Harvick had enough gas to win in a green, white, checkered finish after a series of crashes in the final laps. The win breaks a 44-race winless skid for Harvick. Kyle Busch led 237 laps to dominate the race, but came in third.

Brad Keselowski came in sixth and that was enough for him to take a 20-point lead over Jimmie Johnson into next week’s season finale at Homestead. Johnson came in 32nd after a blown tire put him into the wall and his car needed repairs before he could get back on the track. All Keselowski needs to do next Sunday is finish 15th or better and he’ll win the championship.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens between Jeff Gordon and Clint Bowyer in the season finale. Both were called to the Nascar hauler after Gordon intentionally wrecked Bowyer, then the two drivers and their teams got into a brawl in the garage area. Police officers escorted the drivers and crew chiefs back to their trailers afterwards.

So with only one race left, Johnson is the only one who can catch Keselowski. All the other drivers are mathematically eliminated.
