Two girls are missing in Western New York and the entire community is on the hunt to find them.
Update: as of 1:30 the two girls have been found.
At the time of posting, 10:04 the two young girls are still missing.
The Buffalo Police Department needs the public's help in locating two missing children:
Nova-Rayne Lilley is a 7-year-old white female, approximately 4’4" and 78 pounds. She has dark blond hair, blue eyes, and a light complexion. She was last seen wearing a white shirt, pink jacket, and blue pants.12-year-old Ariyah Brown is a black female, approximately 5 feet tall and 120 pounds. She has black hair, brown eyes, and a medium complexion. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, black jeans, and black Adidas.
Last seen in the 800 block of Delaware Ave. on 1/20/2025", according to the Buffalo, New York Police.
The 911 call came from "Child and Family Service where the kids are living at this time" according to the press conference that was held on Tuesday morning.
Officials mentioned that one of the girls displayed some run away behavior before, but certainly made it clear that because of that, it is still extremely important. The police said they have ever detective in the city on the case knocking on doors and surveying the area.
The police are stressing that no lead is bad, so if you think you see something you should please call 911.
Why is there no Amber Alert for these two girls?
The Buffalo Police explain the process, but they still cannot issue an Amber Alert. The police are doing a great job and explained everything they are doing and why the Amber Alert needs to get passed by a higher authority.
One of the concern is that they get separated. Officials say that they have now knowledge of them knowing each other very long since the placement on one of the girls is fairly new.
I am not a police officer so, I get that there may be some sorts of criteria that need to happen in order to push out an Amber Alert. Maybe because they suspect they ran away? Maybe because there is other information that we just don't know. But, if it is important enough to ask for the public's help, don't you think that an Amber Alert is warranted?
