A frantic search for a 2-year old Silver Creek boy came to a happy ending after he was found a mile and a half from home after he wandered off Wednesday afternoon.  According to a release from the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department the boy's mother had stepped away for just a moment to put clothes in a dryer when she found that he had disappeared from the family home on Route 5.

A massive search involving sheriff's deputies, the sheriff's K-9 unit, New York State troopers, a Starflight helicopter and more than half a dozen volunteer fire companies responded.  Members of the Silver Creek Fire Department were able to locate the boy in a ravine.  He was not injured, but frightened.  He was soon reunited with his family.

Search crews had first searched the home, yard and vehicles thinking he might be hiding, but their focus soon to a much larger area.  The home is right near train tracks and authorities contacted the railroad asking them to slow any trains scheduled to travel thru the area.
