Parents in New York State Schools are getting PAID to drive their kids to school now. It is something that is so polarizing, but also a relief to many school districts.

There is a huge problem with getting kids to school on time in certain districts. In fact, some schools don't even start until 9 AM because bus drivers have to drop off high schools and then pick up the elementary kids. Because of that, younger kids were not getting home until almost 4:30 PM.

Some districts are offering parents in their district some money to drive their kids to school. We have seen some payouts of 58 cents a mile. As an example if you live 10 miles away from a school, a parent could get paid

One one hand: Parents are very happy that they are able to drive their kids to school. It is easy for some parents or they already drive their kids to school so this is a nice new, added pay day. Also, maybe it makes it worth the time for parents who may be worried about their car, gas money or losing time out on work if they have to drive their own car to take their kids to school.

On the other hand: Some parents think that this is a waste of money and that they already pay for the busses and the district should figure out another solution. A lot of moms and dads have cited how much money that they already spend in school taxes.
