They formed the group in 1969 in Fort Payne, Alabama and more than 45 years later they're sounding better than ever.  Alabama appeared at the Erie County Fair grandstand Monday night and it was hit after hit.  And with 43 number one singles, 27 of them coming during the decade of the 1980's, they had an incredible list of songs to pick from.

Among the songs we heard last night:

  • Tennessee River
  • Old Flame
  • Feels So Right
  • Love In The First Degree
  • Mountain Music
  • Lady Down On Love
  • Dixieland Delight
  • If You're Gonna Play In Texas (You Gotta Have A Fiddle In The Band)
  • Song Of The South
  • High Cotton
  • I'm In A Hurry (And Don't Know Why)
  • Take Me Down
  • Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler)

Randy Owen's voice was superb and musically they took us back to the days when they were country music's Super Group.  Even if you're not old enough to remember Alabama from back in the 80's and 90's, you've heard their songs.

With over 200 awards from various organizations, Alabama is the most awarded band in the history of country music. Between the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music they've been named Entertainer of the Year seven times.  And boy did they show why Monday night.  What a show!
