Another Major Retailer Will Be Closed in WNY On Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving over the last 10-12 years has looked more and more like Black Friday. Before, stores would open on Black Friday early in the morning. Then, stores opened at midnight on Black Friday. We eventually progressed to major retailers opening on Thanksgiving afternoon and evening.

Last year, however, most retailers stay closed for Thanksgiving, in large part because of the pandemic. It was a way to thank essential workers, along with not causing large crowds with capacity limits because of COVID-19.

Thanksgiving in 2021 is starting to look more like 2020 than the years before.

Kohl's has recently announced that they will be joining other major retailers in staying closed for Thanksgiving.

Kohl's joins Walmart, Target, and Best Buy in major retailers staying closed for Thanksgiving in 2021.

Kohl's says they received a "positive response" from last year's closure on the holiday and will do so again this year.

Customers will still be able to shop online and with their app on Thanksgiving and hinted that Black Friday hours and sales will be announced in the future.

I think it's great that these stores will be staying closed on Thanksgiving again. Walmart, Target, and Kohl's are the country's largest retailers and it's a big statement when they are the first ones to announce they won't be open on Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving 2021 will once again look like it did 20+ years ago when stores stayed closed on Thursday and don't open until Friday.
