The Buffalo Bills only have four games remaining in the 2021 regular season. The first of those four games will played today against the NFC South's Carolina Panthers at Highmark Stadium.

The Bills are in the mix for a playoff spot in the absolutely jumbled AFC standings, which became even more cluttered last night. Yes, on a Saturday night.

In case you missed it, the Indianapolis Colts defeated the New England Patriots by a score of 27-17, which dropped the Patriots to 9-5 and bumped the Colts to 8-6.

While technically, a Colts victory slightly lessens the Bills playoff chances, it's great news for Bills fans because it now allows Buffalo to control their own AFC East destiny.

Even though the Patriots are a game and a half ahead of the Bills, and won their first matchup, the Bills will win the AFC East if they win their final four games; even if New England wins their final three.

That would have both teams at 11-6, but the Bills would have the better division record at 5-1, which gives them the division title. This obviously would mean the Bills have to beat the Panthers today, and of course, must beat the Patriots next Sunday in Foxborough.

The Patriots had their first real test last night. They had one of the easiest six-game stretches during their win streak, and then the game in Orchard Park featured a windstorm of 45 mph wind gusts, and the Bills still had first and goal and a chance to win the game.

The Colts have one of the best defenses in the NFL, and probably the best running back in Jonathan Taylor. They have arguably the best offensive line and one of the league's best head coaches, and former Bills quarterback Frank Reich.

Rookie Mac Jones made some nice throws in the fourth quarter but had a very rough first three quarters as New England was forced to play behind multiple scores.

The Bills are actually the 8th seed right now because the Colts hold a tiebreaker, but the Bills will make the playoffs and win the AFC East if they take care of their own business.

Kickoff between the Bills and Panthers is at 1 pm.
