It's finally here. The Buffalo Bills will be playing in their first preseason game of the 2022 season. The Bills will host the Indianapolis Colts at Highmark Stadium. Kickoff is at 4 pm.

Even though it's a preseason game, it's always exciting when the first game kicks off; and fans could have not asked for better weather. Mid-to-high 70's with all sunshine. It reminds me of the Bills only home preseason game last year, when they hosted the Green Bay Packers.

The Bills will not be playing Josh Allen in today's game, as head coach Sean McDermott announced on Thursday.

Bills fans coming to the stadium should expect to not see many starters out on the field today. That's usually the standard procedure for McDermott and his staff.

However, there are still plenty of storylines to keep track of, including position battles. The second cornerback slot, opposite of Tre'Davious White and the third wide receiver slot.

There are three players that Bills fans should be keeping an eye on today. They're all rookies and all have been very impressive during training camp.

The first is rookie running back James Cook, who was take in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Cook's has explosiveness that Devin Singletary and Zack Moss do not have. He also was considered the best pass-catching back in the draft.

Cook should see a fair amount of snaps today and he will be noticeable. He's not an every-down back right now, but be on the lookout for number 28.

The second is rookie 5th round pick, wide receiver Khalil Shakir.

Shakir still being there for the Bills in round 5 was a surprise for many. He's a classic example of not doing any particular thing amazing but doing everything well.

He won't burn anyone with his speed and is only 5'10''; but he has good hands and a knack for finding room in opposing defenses. He will be wearing number 10.

Lastly, is Bills rookie 6th round pick, cornerback Christian Benford.

I know, we also need to keep an eye on first round pick, Kaiir Elam, but Benford might be the story of camp with his play and ball-hawk ability.

He played college football at Villanova, so him playing so well in practice has surprised many. McDermott, Brandon Beane and Leslie Frazier may have found another gem in the draft for the Bills secondary.

As for quarterback, expect plenty of Case Keenum and Matt Barkley at quarterback.

Good to get football back at the stadium in Orchard Park.
