Only 2 people (that I can think of) did the true Buffalo trifecta.

  • Born in Western New York.
  • Played at college in Western New York.
  • Went on to play for the Buffalo Bills.

The Buffalo Bills have made their final cuts and announced that linebacker Joe Andreesen has made the 53-man roster as the Bills are getting ready to host the Cardinals in the home opener.

Joe went to Lancaster High School, (went to school for a bit in Rhode Island) played for the University at Buffalo, and then will be dressed for his first ever NFL game as a Buffalo Bills player. The dream.

The only other player to have a similar path is Naaman Roosevelt, who played for St. Joe's, the UB, and went on to play for his 1st NFL team as the Buffalo Bills.

There have been a few other NFL players who were born in Buffalo that went on to play for the Bills, but played for out-of-state colleges and had stops at other NFL teams before the Buffalo Bills:

  • John Corto, from Orchard Park played for the Bills
  • Mike Williams, from Riverside played for mainly Tampa Bay, but also had a stint with the Buffalo Bills.
  • Corey Graham is from Buffalo and he played for Baltimore, Chicago, Philly and the Bills

Of course, there are a ton of other players who have been born in Western New York that made their way to the NFL. Some of the more notable players that have won Super Bowls are Rob Gronkowski from Williamsville, who played with the Patriots and James Starks from Niagara Falls who won a Super Bowl with Green Bay.
