It’s always disappointing when we see a Buffalo-area business close. Rapidly rising inflation, coupled with trying to make up for lost revenue during the pandemic, has left many local businesses - especially restaurants - struggling to stay afloat.

Unfortunately, it looks like one popular area eatery has succumbed to the tough times and has decided to close its doors - for the second time.

Bravo! Italian Kitchen first opened inside the (then new) Walden Galleria Mall expansion in 2007. Like many area restaurants, it shuttered its doors during the pandemic and reopened to the public in late 2021. At the end of last year, the Italian eatery closed again - and this time, reportedly, for good.

Since 2020, four sit-down eateries have closed up shop inside the Walden Galleria: Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, Bar Louie, Jack Astor’s, and World of Beer.

What does this say about Buffalo’s dining-out culture in 2023? Are Buffalo area residents really going out less?

Thanks to convenient apps like Grubhub, Uber Eats, and Doordash, hungry Western New Yorkers can just tap a few buttons to get local food delivered right to their doorstep without having to spend any time outside the house.

Or, could it be that if Buffalonians venture out to eat, they’re spending their money at small, local establishments and not on big chains and brand names?

Whatever the case may be, we’re curious to see what, if anything, will be going into the now-open space at the Galleria.
